CRA Standards

Vertical standards for security requirements

What does the work you will carry out for the CYBERSTAND SSP consist of?

I am a subject matter expert contributing to two vertical standards. One is EN 304 627 (Routers) and the second one is EN 304 636 (Firewalls). My role is to review documents and provide comments or new content.

What is the expected result and impact of this activity?

Devices covered by these two standards ("Routers, modems intended for the connection to the internet, and switches", "Firewalls, intrusion detection and/or prevention systems") are designated as important products in the CRA. These products are part of the critical infrastructure that enables the EU digital economy. They form the backbone of telecommunications networks, connecting businesses, enabling e-commerce, and supporting cloud services essential for competitiveness. The EU single digital market relies entirely on these devices for cross-border data flows and financial transactions. They underpin remote work, digital public services, and Industry 4.0 manufacturing automation. As Europe pursues digital sovereignty and 5G expansion, secure, high-performance networking equipment becomes strategically vital for economic independence, innovation, and maintaining the EU's position in global digital trade and technology sectors. The impact of these standards will be significant.

Which aspects of the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) standardisation are you focusing on?

My focus is on vertical standards.
